CBD concentrates are highly concentrated hemp extracts. Extracted from hemp flower and containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, CBD concentrates contain very high levels of CBD (cannabidiol). They also contain minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Different types of extraction processes create different forms of concentrates that may contain varying amounts of cannabinoids and terpenes.

High CBD extracts are often vaped, dabbed, made into edibles, or used to top bowls of flower. Oral and topical use is also an option. CBD extracts require smaller doses compared to other types of CBD products due to the high concentrations of CBD. It isn’t uncommon for these concentrates to contain 45%-99% CBD.

There are various types of CBD concentrates available on the market today including CBD live resin, CBD distillate, CBD shatter, CBD badder, CBD crumble, and more.

CBD shatter is a form of CBD(cannabidiol) concentrate. Most CBD shatter on the market today is made with pure CBD isolate. It is often mixed with flower and smoked or dabbed using a dab rig. CBD shatter is brittle compared to other types of concentrates such as CBG wax. Isolate based CBD shatters are generally THC free, or broad spectrum. Terpenes derived from hemp or cannabis are usually added to CBD shatter for flavor.

Shatter gets its name from its brittle consistency which easily shatters when handled. Sometimes it can be indistinguishable from wax or distillate but its much harder.

To make CBD shatter, manufacturers extract cannabinoids from hemp plant material and refine the extraction until they have produced a CBD isolate. At this stage the isolate is ‘set’, this involves leaving the shatter to sit undisturbed away from heat and light so that it may set into a shatter.

Isolate based shatter is just as potent as regular CBD isolate, so the choice between regular isolate or shatter is really one of preference.

Full spectrum CBD shatter is a different type of CBD concentrate from isolate based shatter. Full spectrum shatter is not made of CBD isolate, rather it is a true full spectrum hemp extract that contains the full range of cannabinoids and terpenes present in the extraction material.

This type of CBD shatter is VERY rare due to the difficulty of getting hydrocarbon extractions to set into a shatter consistency and the difficulty of producing a shatter that contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.

Unlike isolate based CBD shatter, full spectrum CBD shatter actually looks like regular high THC cannabis shatter. This consistency usually resembles glass and doesn’t have the powdery appearance of isolate based shatter.

If you can find this type of CBD shatter, you should consider yourself very lucky! Aside from appearance the best way to identify full spectrum shatter is a terpene profile from a specific hemp strain. If the terpene profile is a popular cannabis strain, it’s probably full spectrum CBD distillate with CDT’s (cannabis derived terpenes) added for flavor.

CBD shatter is commonly added to a bowl of flower, dabbed using a dab rig, or vaped using a concentrate vaporizer. Alternatively, it can be consumed orally or made into CBD edibles.

Dabbing CBD concentrates is the most effective way to consume them. Inhaling hemp extract vapor allows the cannabinoids to enter the bloodstream more quickly and more efficiently compared to other methods of ingestion. CBD doesn’t hold up well against our digestive systems and a much larger dose is required when consuming orally.

Mixing with flower is always an option, but this means instead of vaporizing the shatter you are combusting which isn’t as healthy, and it will probably destroy terpenes and degrade the overall flavor.

Sauce Warehouse has sourced this full spectrum CBD shatter from a trusted extraction artist. It has been extracted from choice fresh frozen hemp flower and by far exceeds the quality of any other full spectrum CBD shatter on the market today. In fact, you will find it extremely difficult, likely impossible, to find a similar CBD shatter concentrate of this quality.

Although it is full spectrum, this shatter is a great option for consumers who are sensitive to THC. The high CBD content balances any undesirable effects from the small amount of THCa present.
