More Info

Shatter is a standout in the world of CBD concentrates, named for its glass-like texture that breaks apart, well, just like glass. While you'll come across various CBD concentrates like CBD live resin, CBD wax, & CBD distillate, CBD shatter is distinct and comparatively rare. Why? Two main reasons. First, CBD doesn't naturally settle into that shatter-like consistency as easily as high-THC extracts. Second, staying below the 0.3% Delta-9 THC legal limit is a challenge, especially when crafting shatter.

A quick heads-up for those shopping around for CBD shatter - be cautious. A lot of the so-called "CBD Shatter" on the market isn't legit. And by ‘a lot’ we mean practically all of it. Many vendors, aside from us at Sauce Warehouse, simply blend CBD isolates or distillates with terpenes and label it as "shatter." If you’re looking for the real deal when it comes to CBD shatter, or any form of hemp extract, stick with Sauce Warehouse.

CBD shatter is often enjoyed using a dab rig or a vape pen. With its high CBD concentration, vaporizing ensures quick and efficient absorption, leading to almost instantaneous effects. While vaporizing is popular, shatter's versatility doesn't stop there. It can also be used in homemade edibles and other preparations.

How to Dab Shatter

First, you’ll need a dab rig and a torch (or an e-nail).

1. If using a torch, our rule of thumb is this - heat it up till its red hot, then wait one minute. This is usually the amount of time it takes for the nail to reach a nice low temperature. Of course, your environmental conditions and room temperature play a role here, so you may need to experiment with longer or shorter waiting time.

a. If you are using an e-nail, you’ll want to go for a lower temp than usual. Shatter, and CBD shatter especially, tends to have lower percentages of terpenes overall compared to other types of extracts. For this reason you’ll want to preserve as much of that flavor as possible by setting your temps low. Try starting around 475 degrees and work your way up to 550 degrees to find the sweet spot.

2. Have your dab ready to go on your dab tool. Once your nail is at the correct temperature, take your dab and apply it to the inside of the nail as you inhale. If you aren’t using any fancy terp pearls and your temperature is on the lower end of the spectrum, it can help to swirl your dab around the nail using your dab tool to ensure even and complete vaporization.

3. This is where carb caps can come in handy, but if you are just starting out you may not have one and that’s fine. But, if you do, drop your carb cap over your nail so you can get the most out of your shatter. Spinning the carb cap around in the nail while you inhale will allow for a more thorough vaporization and covering the hole in your carb cap will allow you to really milk your shatter for all it’s got!

4. Exhale the BS. Repeat.

CBDa, standing for cannabidiolic acid, is a prevalent cannabinoid in raw cannabis and hemp. Similar to how CBGa evolves into CBG and THCa transforms into Delta-9 THC, CBDa is the forerunner of CBD. These precursor cannabinoids have a carboxylic acid group that gets eliminated upon heating, a process termed "decarboxylation."
Decarboxylation may ring a bell, especially if you're familiar with the world of edibles. This process is vital since these acid forms, like CBDa, are considered 'non-active'. A primary reason for this labeling is that THCa must undergo decarboxylation to allow Delta-9 THC to exhibit psychoactive properties. Hence, THCa is tagged as 'non-active', while Delta-9 THC is 'active'. This nomenclature has extended to cannabinoids like CBD and CBDa, even though they don't induce psychoactive effects.
There was a time when these precursors were deemed relatively insignificant. Consumption led to no apparent effects, so they were overlooked. However, recent insights challenge this view. In some scenarios, the 'non-active' acid forms of cannabinoids, like CBDa, have shown to be even more potent than their 'active' counterparts.
A 2013 study from Guelph, Canada, highlighted that CBDa was a thousand times more effective than CBD in binding to a particular serotonin receptor. But, the details? Well, for more on that, you might want to turn to search engines. Our hands are tied when it comes to diving deeper or citing specifics, courtesy of FDA regulations.

Both CBD and CBDa belong to the family of cannabinoids, derived from cannabis plants. Or, in our case, hemp plants. While CBD has dominated the limelight due to extensive research highlighting its potential health benefits, CBDa remains a relatively unknown compound, slowly emerging for its potential therapeutic properties. But how do the two differ?

CBD boasts superior stability compared to CBDa. It remains resilient against natural elements like heat and light. CBDa, being less robust and the forerunner to CBD, naturally converts into CBD when subjected to light and heat, losing its carboxylic acid group in the process. This instability has made CBDa a rare find in the market until recently. However, with advancements in extraction techniques, an increasing number of CBD vendors are now showcasing CBDa in their product lineups.

Dive into a universe of flavor and aroma with Super Sour Space Candy. Revered for its intricate fusion of flavors, a rich terpene profile, and potent concentration of cannabinoids, this Sativa-dominant strain is enjoyed by all. If you've been on the hunt for a top shelf CBD encounter, your search just might end with Super Sour Space Candy, and for the true connoisseurs, Super Sour Space Candy CBDA Shatter offers an even more concentrated experience.

Profile and Genetics:

Tracing its stellar lineage to the groundbreaking 'Sour Space Candy' hemp cultivar bred by Oregon CBD in 2020, Super Sour Space Candy emerged not long after. Breeders at Oregon CBD Seeds honed and refined the original, gifting us this cosmically refined version, characterized by its grand colas, tangy aromas, and brilliant green buds. These distinct characteristics are a result of the harmonious union of Sour Tsunami and GG#4 hemp cultivars. Over the years, breeders have focused on enriching the CBD concentration while reducing levels of THC, producing buds that resemble traditional cannabis in appearance and aroma but with the therapeutic benefits of CBD. The Super Sour Space Candy hemp strain is a great example of this evolution.

Effects and Experience:

Don’t be fooled by it’s sativa dominance, this strain is perfectly capable of making you feel like you are floating amongst the stars. Yet, it is also known for invoking a sense of calm, focus, and clarity, making it ideal for daytime use. Unlike strains high in THC, Super Sour Space Candy won't leave you feeling high or intoxicated. Instead, you might experience a more pronounced sense of relaxation and contentment.
Its namesake isn't just for show, the scent is genuinely otherworldly. Think of a fusion of pineapples, sour lemons, with a hint of gassy undertones. It's a captivating aroma, greatly attributed to its high terpinolene content.

Terpene and Cannabinoid Content:

Super Sour Space Candy's therapeutic and aromatic prowess stems from its rich terpene and cannabinoid content. Primary terpenes include β-Myrcene, Terpinolene, and β-Caryophyllene. High concentrations of b-Caryophyllene and a-Pinene are likely responsible, at least in part, for this strain's relaxing effects.
When it comes to cannabinoid content, 15-20% is average for flower, of course this percentage is much higher in Super Sour Space Candy CBDA Shatter.
